Corrado Dalco studied Graphic Design whilst working in an ad agency in Italy, his country of origin. After a stint working in photography in Milan, he spent time in Berlin and Barcelona before moving back to Parma to set up a photographic studio. He has been based in London since 2002. He has shot numerous ad campaigns, fashion editorials, videos and is published in books such as An Encyclopaedia of Creating World Class Nudes 2004 by Jack Gilbert.

He also works under the name Urto and a portfolio of his work can be viewed at www.urto.com

His photos are edgy and moody, sometimes erotic, sometimes humorous, portraying beautiful, but not extraordinary, people and forms. Lighting is all important in his work creating an honest intimacy.

What role does sex play in Your life?  In Your work?
For me, sex plays a very important role. Almost fundamental, I’d say. It’s that thing that makes the world go round. If you have sex every day, it’s easier to face the problems of the day. Of course you can always have a lot of sex and with whom you like, but the best sex comes with the right person. It’s loaded with energy, with adrenalin that slides into you
In my job, it’s the same. It’s like reading a book of photography at high speed. Like travelling on a train and looking out the window. Every second you see a different image. Ultimately, for me it is a continuous stimulus.

What image turns You on?
Many things, in particular smell. The smell of sun cream for example. Or the taste of olives. Also the sound of a siren. It reminds me of something.

Where did You have Your first sexual experience?
Perhaps my first sexual experience, which I had very early, changed my life. I was 8 years old. I was in a field under a hut that we had built, some friends and I. That was just sex. Love came later.

Which dish do you “devour” with greatest delight?

My favourite food is pizza, a good Italian one, but I adore anything that is edible, and sometimes inedible as well. I love to play with it like with all things.

Do You want to say anything else?
Sex is beautiful. Sex is energy. But it doesn’t work if you force it. Oh, one last thing: respect is the fundamental thing in sex.
Only if you respect the one who you have close, you will gain something.
